OKLAHOMA CITY – New numbers released Thursday are proof the flu is not slowing down in Oklahoma.
The state health dept. shows a total of 17 deaths now, along with another 78 people hospitalized in just the last week.
In all, over 700 people have required a hospital stay for the flu this season.
Doctors are warning patients on just how easily the flu can spread.
They said you do not have to touch another person to get the virus, just being near them you can get the germs.
At Wake Forest University, doctors measured how far virus particles could travel from where a patient was standing.
They found the virus travels six feet from the infected person, even if they are not coughing or sneezing.
