Detroit sign makes reference to concentration camp
DETROIT—Cards with an offensive saying in German has been placed on an old abandoned warehouse in Michigan.
The old Packard plant has been abandoned for many years and all that stands is a dilapidated building.
It hasn’t received much attention, until now.
Someone placed a sign in clear view, which translates to “Work makes free” in German.
According to the Anti-Defamation League, the sign is offensive because it was often seen at concentration camps, including those at Auschwitz.
Authorities say they do not know who put the sign up.
The Anti-Defamation League has asked that it be removed immediately.
