President asks Congress to delay spending cuts

WASHINGTON—With only three weeks to go before the onset of automatic spending cuts, President Obama is asking Congress to find a way to delay the “sequester.”

The “sequester” would put into place deep cuts in domestic and defense spending, beginning March 1.

While the president was somewhat upbeat during the press conference, he was critical of the ongoing political dysfunction among Republicans and Democrats.
