Tourists raped, tied up in Acapulco
ACAPULCO, Mexico (CNN)—Police in Mexico are tracking down a band of gunman who are accused of raping tourists.
Authorities say the gang broke into a beach bungalow and raped six women tourists after tying up a group of men.
The victims, who were on vacation from Spain, are now under the protection of Mexican authorities.
Acapulco is generally thought of as a relatively safe city.
The U.S. State Department has issued travel warnings after gruesome murders in the area.
Officials say that while tourist destinations don’t see the level of violence, resort city bars can house drug dealers and other criminals.
