David Stanley Chevrolet of Norman High School Senior Athlete of the Week – Tomas Elder

Tomas is a leader both in the pool and in the classroom. He has maintained a perfect 4.0 in high school, and was chosen as a 2011/2012 Scholastic All-American award winner by USA Swimming, the national organization that governs all amateur competitive swimming in the US.

He was the ONLY swimmer in Oklahoma to be chosen. Tomas has served as Captain of the Norman North Swim Team, and was a state champion swimmer last year in the 200 Medley Relay.

This year, at the All-State Preview in Jenks (top 8 teams in OK) Tomas dominated in the freestyle sprints, winning first with blistering times in both the 50 and 100, as well as being a member of the winning 200 Medley Relay.

He is also generous with his volunteer time despite his busy schedule. Tomas is genuinely a likable, hard-working, first-rate young man, exactly the kind of person who personifies the best of high school student/athletes
