Four football players arrested for violent robberies
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (CNN)—Less than a month after winning a national championship title, four Alabama football players are behind bars for two robberies.
Authorities say they arrested Dennis Pettway, Tyler Hayes, Brent Calloway and Eddie Williams for the crimes.
All of the accused are freshmen players for the Crimson Tide, with Pettway, Hayes and Calloway appearing in 13 games last season.
According to WVTM, Pettway, Hayes and Williams punched and kicked a student until he was unconscious.
Once he lost consciousness, police say the men took a bag that contained an Apple Macbook Pro.
WVTM says Williams allegedly beat up another student an hour later until he was unconscious.
After the attack, he allegedly took his wallet.
Later that morning, police claim two of the suspects used a debit card from that wallet to buy food from a vending machine.
Williams, Pettway and Hayes were charged with robbery.
Williams and Calloway were also charged with using a debit card fraudulently.
All four players have been suspended from the football program indefinitely.
