Man accused of beating girlfriend, baby over tax return
OKLAHOMA CITY—Police said a man is behind bars after he allegedly beat a woman and her child over a tax return.
Authorities were called to the Will Rogers Courts apartments on Saturday after receiving a report about a fight over tax return money.
Once officers arrived, they learned that 18-year-old Darnell Williams had contacted the victim about wanting to visit their child.
When she met him, he asked for $1,000 of her tax return money.
However, the victim told Williams she wouldn’t give him any of the money.
That is when he allegedly began hitting her, while she was holding the 8-month-old child.
According to the police affidavit, the victim claims Williams hit the child in the head.
He then grabbed her necklaces and ripped them from around her neck and allegedly tried to take her earrings as well.
Authorities claim he grabbed a handgun that was tucked in his waistband and told the victim he would shoot her.
Fortunately, she was able to drive away and call police.
Williams is being charged with assault and battery, robbery by force, assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse and domestic abuse in the presence of a minor child.
