SANFORD, Fla.—Tuesday marks the one year anniversary of the killing of Trayvon Martin.
The shooting generated outrage across the country for months and led to a wide-ranging talk about race relations in the United States.
One year ago today, the 17-year-old was shot and killed by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman.
Zimmerman maintains that he was following Martin when he was attacked by the teen and shot Martin in self-defense.
At the center of the case is Florida’s “stand your ground” law.
The case will go to trial on June 10.
