NEW YORK- Police in New York City say they have arrested a man in connection with a deadly hit-and-run accident.

According to CNN, police arrested the registered owner of a BMW for the crash that killed two people.

Authorities say a couple was on their way to the hospital when their vehicle was hit by a BMW at an intersection.

The driver of the car fled the scene.

The husband and wife, who were expecting a baby, were rushing to the hospital because the mother said she could no longer feel the child.

Raizy Glauber, who was 24 weeks pregnant, was thrown from the car and landed under a parked tractor-trailer.

Nachman Glauber was pinned in the car until emergency workers could cut open the roof to get to him.

Doctors delivered the baby through a cesarean section at the scene of the crash.

Both parents died in the accident and we’re told the baby died Monday morning.

The owner of the car, Takia Walker, was arrested on insurance fraud charges and is accused of allowing someone not on the insurance policy to drive the car.

Police say they are still searching for 44-year-old Julio Acevedo for being behind the wheel at the time of the crash.
