Student arrested for bringing loaded gun to Moore elementary
MOORE, Okla. - A 12-year-old boy is accused of bringing a loaded gun to school Monday.
Oklahoma City Police said the sixth grader brought a loaded, semi-automatic. 45 caliber gun to Sky Ranch Elementary near Western Ave. and S.W. 94th St.
“Officers pulled him out of the classroom with the help of a principal and removed the weapon,” Police Capt. Dexter Nelson said. “We don’t know that the kid posed a threat to anyone or why he brought it to school at this point.”
Police told News Channel 4 that the boy showed the weapon to other students.
The student is facing a felony charge for possessing a firearm on school grounds.
Sky Ranch Elementary released this statement:
“Today a student was arrested by the Oklahoma City Police for bringing a loaded gun onto the school campus at Sky Ranch Elementary School.
Personnel at Sky Ranch worked quickly and efficiently to ensure the safety of all students.
We will continue to work with the Oklahoma City Police Department during their investigation of this matter.”
