One dead after school bus accident in Seminole County
SEMINOLE COUNTY, Okla. – At least one person has been killed in an accident involving a school bus near Wewoka Thursday.
Authorities said no children were seriously injured.
Officials confirmed three vehicles were involved in the accident on SH 56, about seven miles south of Wewoka.
The Okla. Highway Patrol said the school bus was stopped in the southbound lane to load students; a Toyota was stopped behind the bus.
A third car came up behind them and couldn’t stop in time.
When that driver swerved to miss the Toyota, he ended up swiping the car, forcing it to hit the bus.
That driver, 19-year-old Shane Denton, was pinned in the car for a half-hour and died at the scene.
None of the 22 students on board the bus were injured.
They Toyota driver was not injured either.
