Vatican announces date for conclave
VATICAN CITY—Officials at the Vatican have announced the starting date for the conclave to select a new pope.
The cardinals will celebrate mass and then go into conclave on Tuesday, March 12.
Authorities say they will be shut off from the rest of the world while they go through the long process of electing the next pope.
There will be 115 cardinals voting in the conclave and the new pope will have to receive at least 77 of those votes for the selection to be official.
