Sallisaw woman arrested for attempting to sell children
SALLISAW, Okla. — A Sallisaw woman was taken to Sequoyah County jail for trying to sell her children to a woman in Fort Smith, Arkansas Wednesday.
Misty Nicole Vanhorn, 22, was selling her children, a two-year-old and 10-month old, for $1,000 each or both for $4,000. Officials say it is possible that she needed bond money to get her boyfriend out of jail. A relative of Vanhorn alerted the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.
According to the police report, Vanhorn had used Facebook to contact a woman in Fort Smith. Vanhorn had messaged the woman, “Just come to Sallisaw, it’s only 30 minutes away and I’ll give you all of her stuff and let y’all have her forever for $1,000.”
Vanhorn was booked into Sequoyah County jail for trafficking children.
Her children were taken into state custody.
