POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY, Okla. – Strong Oklahoma winds and warm temperatures made the perfect recipe for wild fires Friday.

A few smaller ones were ignited including one in Pottawatomie County east of McLoud, along Highway 177.

Firefighters quickly got it under control and it never threatened any homes.

Crews said although we are not under a burn ban, it’s good to be aware of any outdoor burning.

Strong winds can quickly turn embers in to flames.
