Family coping with second murder
SHAWNEE, Okla. – The family of a murdered Tecumseh couple is once again coping with the loss of a loved one.
Shawnee Police discovered the body of Cathy Byus, 35, inside her home at 27 Bella Vista Lane early Thursday morning.
Investigators said she was shot and killed.
Police arrested her husband Justin Byus, 25, in connection to her death.
Back in 2010, her parents, Gary and Linda Haas, were murdered in New Mexico.
Authorities arrested two prison escapees and an accomplice in connection to the murders.
“It is tragedy upon tragedy for this family, more than anyone should bear,” attorney Glendell Nix said.
Nix and attorney Jacob Diesselhorst filed a wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of Cathy Byus after her parents were killed.
The family asked the law firm to issue a statement.
“Obviously the family is very heartbroken and shaken,” Nix said.
Byus had a 2-year-old son who is now with relatives.
