OKC teen arrested for nurse’s murder
OKLAHOMA CITY - Authorities have announced a break in a 4-month-old murder case.
A teenager has been arrested for the killing of a metro nurse.
Tipped off by the victim’s former boyfriend, officers came to Lyrewood Lane and arrested 18-year-old Bryson Baker for murder.
The case started at a home back in December where 57-year-old Shelia Stanley died of multiple stab wounds inside her own home.
Friends initially alarmed by her disappearance for several days called police.
“The friends had called police because they had not heard from her and it just didn’t seem right to them,” Oklahoma City police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said.
Court records filed in Cleveland County are shedding some light on the case.
It does appear the suspect and the victim knew each other through a mutual acquaintance, although the motive for the killing remains a mystery.
Court records also claim no signs of forced entry were found in the home but some jewelry and electronics were missing.
After the murder, Stanley’s former boyfriend called police and claimed the suspect had been living at his house and the ex-boyfriend said he found the missing items being kept by Baker.
Specifically, court records claim the ex-boyfriend told police, “He found a sock containing jewelry he identified as belonging to Stanley in Baker’s bag. He also found a cell phone belonging to Stanley.”
We went to the last listed address for Baker but no one answered.
Oklahoma City police said they are glad to have made an arrest but haven’t ruled out the possibility of additional arrests.
“It’s obviously good when an arrest is made,” Knight said. “It helps the family and helps the detectives solve the case. However, this is an active investigation. It’s important to emphasize that.”
The suspect remains in jail in Cleveland County.
