STILLWATER – As expected, the Oklahoma State men’s basketball trio of all-american freshman Marcus Smart, sophomore forward Le’Bryan Nash and junior Markel Brown announced to an adoring crowd Wednesday they will all forego the big money of the NBA…and return to OSU to play next season.
Nash was expected to return all along, Brown was 50-50 because his stock improved so much during the Cowboys recent season and Smart? He was expected to be a sure fire Top 5 selection in this summer’s NBA Draft – so he’s literally passing up MILLIONS to return for his sophomore season.
The happiest guy at a crowded OSU Student Union news conference was Cowboys head coach Travis Ford, who will welcome Douglass High School record-setting scoring guard Stevie Clark and several other talented newcomers to the program when practice gets underway this fall.
The return of Smart, Brown and Nash means OSU will bring back the three leading returning scores in the entire Big 12 Conference – and the Pokes are expected to be the pre-season #1 choice to win the league next year. Here’s how the players and coach Ford announced their future plans to the school’s students and fans Wednesday afternoon.
