Barons check off the Checkers to take series

The Oklahoma City Barons won their second straight game at Charlotte on Saturday night, downing the Checkers 6-to-2 in Game 5 of their American Hockey League first round playoff series to win the series three games to two.

OKC scored three unanswered goals in the second period to break a 2-2 tie, getting six goals from six different players to win the game and the series. The Barons will face the Texas Stars in the AHL Western Conference semifinals, with Game 1 set for Thursday night in Texas.
