Jodi Arias found guilty of first-degree murder
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Jurors have reached a verdict in the trial of Jodi Arias after deliberating about 15 hours over four days.
The 32-year-old woman was found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of motivational speaker Travis Alexander.
Authorities said she planned the attack in a jealous rage after the victim rejected her and pursued other women.
Arias initially denied involvement and later blamed the killing on masked intruders.
Two years after her arrest, she said she killed Alexander in self defense.
This verdict will be followed by a second phase of testimony in the trial to determine how harsh the sentence will be.
