Thieves target home of murdered Okla. couple
TECUMSEH, Okla. – Thieves have stolen over $25,000 worth of stuff from the home of Gary and Linda Haas, according to a family member.
Talford Perkins, Jr. said several boats, a 32-foot trailer, tools and other items were taken from the property in Tecumseh.
“It was just stuff but, you know, it was their stuff,” Linda’s brother, Talford Perkins, Jr., said.
It’s unclear exactly when the items were stolen but it happened sometime in late April.
Gary and Linda Haas were murdered over two years ago in New Mexico.
Up until March of this year, Gary and Linda’s daughter, Cathy Haas Byus, took care of the property.
Cathy Haas Byus was shot and killed in March.
Since then, Perkins has been responsible for taking care of the property.
“It almost feels like we were taken advantage of because now someone knows that Cathy and Justin are no longer in the picture,” Perkins said.
Perkins said he believes the thieves have returned to the property several times.
The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
