Low speed chase ends with police using stop-sticks
OKLAHOMA CITY — An hour-long police chase comes to an end in the suspect’s own driveway. The scene occurred shortly after 11:00 pm last night after a chase wound its way through the North Highland neighborhood.
Police say it began around 10:00 pm near 86th and Harvey. When they attempted to pull the driver and passenger over on a routine traffic stop the duo fled; leading police on a low-speed chase throughout the residential area.
While speeds only averaged about 25 miles-per-hour, authorities say they were forced to deploy stop -sticks to end the long pursuit.
Lt. Rob Coniglione with the Oklahoma City Police says, “We followed our department’s policy through. He just didn’t stop.”
The chase ended when he driver stopped at a home in that neighborhood. We’re told that’s where his family lives.
There’s no word on why the driver and his passenger initially ran from police, but officers say they’re facing felony charges.
