PARIS – Tennis’ king of the clay did it again in Paris.
Rafael Nadal beat fellow Spaniard David Ferrer 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 to win his fourth straight French Open title and his eighth in the last nine years.
His eight wins is more than any man has won in a single Grand Slam event and gives him 12 Grand Slam titles overall for his career.
It’s also the second time Nadal has won four straight French Open titles.
The match was marred by an incident late in the second set when a shirtless man carrying a lighted flare ran on to the court before quickly being smothered and taken down by security.
