OKC makes top 10 list of ‘Best Cities for Recent Grads’
OKLAHOMA CITY– Many college graduates are trying to find a job but a new study suggests Oklahoma City may be one of the best places for adults with their new-found freedom.
The national unemployment rate is dropping but competition for jobs is still stiff.
The rent for an apartment is also on the rise, which is why Apartments.com compiled the “Top 10 Best Cities for Recent College Graduates.”
The top 10 list goes as follows:
- Phoenix, Ariz.
- Orlando, Fla.
- San Antonio, Texas
- Columbus, Ohio
- Austin, Texas
- Raleigh, N.C.
- Oklahoma City, Okla.
- Fort Worth, Texas
- Dallas, Texas
- Minneapolis, Minn.
“When starting the search process, it can be tempting to focus on just the biggest cities, ” said Tammy Kotula, public relations and promotions manager for the website. “In fact, many other ‘best of’ lists tend to be heavily weighted toward the country’s largest markets, which obviously offer a lot of career opportunities. However, it is important to carefully consider all aspects that a city, even a smaller market, has to offer before deciding where to settle down.”
Experts say the first step should be identify cities that offer affordability alongside professional opportunity, while keeping your lifestyle in mind.
Others who contributed to the list say they looked at the cities that offered the best overall opportunity for employment, career success, living affordability and a youthful culture.
