DEQ to end free well-water bacterial testing soon
OKLAHOMA CITY — In the aftermath of the May tornadoes and flooding, The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has provided free bacterial testing of private well water to those in storm impacted counties.
DEQ will continue to offer free sampling kits until July 10th and will accept samples for free analysis until August 8th.
If your well is within a storm impacted county, and if you would like to test your well, call (800) 522-0206 prior to July 10th to request a sample container.
Storm impacted counties include: Adair, Caddo, Canadian, Cherokee, Cleveland, Coal, Comanche, Craig, Creek, Delaware, Garfield, Garvin, Grady, Grant, Greer, Hughes, Kingfisher, Kiowa, Le Flore, Lincoln, Logan, Mayes, McClain, McCurtain, McIntosh, Muskogee, Nowata, Okfuskee, Oklahoma, Okmulgee, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Payne, Pottawatomie, Pushmataha, Sequoyah, Stephens, Tulsa, Wagoner and Washington.
Since June 5th, DEQ has analyzed more than 400 samples at no cost to the public.
