UPDATE: Grady County deputies make arrest in Amber homicide
AMBER, OK – A man is accused of fracturing his fiancé’s skull and then killing her friend. Grady County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Steven Thompson outside his home Thursday morning. Inside the home, authorities found the body of a woman who was shot in the face.
Thompson’s fiancé was in the living room. When deputies found her, she was going in and out of consciousness.
“Deputies responded and when they pulled up the suspect was on the front porch without being given any commands he put his hands up,” Sheriff Jim Weir said.
Authorities believe Thompson attacked the women Wednesday night. Sheriff Weir said the suspect called 911 Thursday morning. According to investigators, a family member talked Thompson out of killing himself and his fiancé. Investigators said they questioned Thompson’s fiancé.
“She stated he came home started beating both of them with his fist and using the butt of a shotgun and that she passed out sometime and she woke up early this morning and he told her that he had killed her friend,” Sheriff Weir said.
Investigators said Thompson was upset about something the two women were doing, but authorities would not elaborate. Thompson was booked into the Grady County Jail.
