NORMAN, Okla. – The OU baseball team will have a new coach this season.

According to KFOR-TV sources, Virginia Tech’s Pete Hughes will be in the Sooners’ dugout soon.

A reporter for the Norman Transcript tweeted he confirmed the hire with “an OU source.”

A Virginia Tech beat writer for the Richmond Times-Dispatch also claims Hughes is headed to the Sooner State.

Virginia Tech is having a press conference at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Hughes led the Hokies to a 40-22 record this season.

Tech went 2-2 in the NCAA regional, which it hosted for the first time in the program’s history.

Oklahoma was the team that eliminated the Hokies in the finals.
