Edmond facing changes to water supply

edmond

EDMOND, Okla.– City leaders in Edmond are warning residents with medical conditions that they may need to do a few things differently after a possible purchase from Oklahoma City.

Authorities say they may begin buying water from Oklahoma City.

City leaders say the move is still being considered and they will not change anything for another 30 days.

While residents don’t notice a change, they stress there are some differences.

Oklahoma City uses chloramines to disinfect the water and Edmond uses chlorine.

The change means kidney dialysis machines may require a different method of operation.

Residents are encouraged to call the Water Resources Department if they have a medical condition that would be impacted by the change.

To contact the Water Resources Department, call (405) 216-7675.
