A unique treatment for patients who suffer from chronic sinus infections is boasting an excellent success rate.

Sinus sufferers who have tried medications, nasal sprays, saline solutions and homeopathic remedies are now turning to balloon sinuplasty.

Doctors insert a small balloon right into the sinus cavity.

Experts say it can be performed in the doctor’s office and is less risky than the standard sinus surgery more than 300,000 Americans undergo each year.

Dr. Michael Abidin said, “It blows up and literally fractures the bone and then it heals open. That’s why it lasts.”

Officials say balloon sinuplasty has a 90 percent success rate and works best for patients who suffer from chronic sinusitis.
