New virus could force pork prices to jump
OKLAHOMA CITY–Prices for pork could go up in the coming weeks after a frightening new virus is causing concern among pork producers in the Sooner State.
The Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus has been reported in 15 states, including Oklahoma, and has almost wiped out piglets in facilities where it has been reported.
Previously, the virus has been reported in pork farms in Europe and China.
Fortunately, the virus does not affect humans.
