OKLAHOMA CITY– While storm survivors are busy cleaning up the mess left behind by Mother Nature, some were scrambling to try and apply for FEMA assistance before the deadline.
Oklahoma residents who suffered damage from the severe storms, tornadoes, flooding and straight line winds that occurred on May 18 through June 2 are encouraged to apply for financial help.
The deadline to register had been Friday, July 19.
However, FEMA officials say they have extended that deadline.
Storm victims will now be able to apply for FEMA assistance until Monday, August 19.
Residents in Canadian, Cleveland, LeFlore, Lincoln, McClain, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Oklahoma and Pottawatomie who were uninsured or underinsured can apply by going to the FEMA website.
Applicants need to keep their FEMA information updated but should not register twice.
Duplicate registrations will delay the processing of an application.
