Mother charged in fight between Binger teen girls

BINGER, OKla. — A shocking video out of Binger still has residents talking. It showed two teenage girls fighting, with a mother heard in the background egging the whole thing on.

We know now that mother is in jail and has been charged. Residents say after seeing the video multiple times and listening to her encourage her daughter to keep fighting, they are happy to hear she is being held accountable for her actions.

In a sworn affidavit, officer Bobby Lynn of the Binger Police Department said on the day of the fight the victim came to him to tell him what happened, but it wasn’t until after he watched the video, posted on Facebook, that he came to the conclusion crimes had been committed.

Alicia White, the mother of the teenage girl police say beat 15-year-old Whitney Irvin in the middle of town, is being accused of “knowingly and willfully aiding and encouraging her daughter to become a delinquent by driving her to fight and commit assault and battery.”

Video of the fight was posted on Facebook, outraging parents and getting attention from Binger authorities last week.

Officer Bobby Lynn also said Alicia White told him, “That is how they handled things when she was growing up and that she thought it served Whitney right for talking about her daughter and calling her names such as the “n” word.”

One count of contributing to the delinquency of minors, which is a misdemeanor, is punishable by a fine up to a thousand dollars, one year of jail time or both.

White’s neighbor Buzz Brown knows her well and was shocked to hear she was involved in the fight at all, but says the punishment fits the crime.

“No I don’t think they are out of line at all for the charges,” says Brown. “And that’s kind of to just let people know that sometimes you get carried away with your thoughts and your anger and it will get you in a bind and in this case it did.”
