Demolition of Main Street bridge not expected to impact traffic
NORMAN, Okla.- A bridge demolition project in Norman is not expected to impact most residents who travel along I-35 throughout the day.
The Main Street bridge over I-35 is coming down this week.
Some lanes along the highway will be closed during the demolition.
Officials say those lane closures will only be done at night, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
All four lanes along I-35 will be open during the day.
Eventually, this bridge and interchange will be replaced with what’s called a “Single Point Urban Interchange.”
Transportation authorities say they hope the new design will help ease congestion in the area.
