Ikard named nominee for off-the-field honor
NORMAN, Okla.- One of OU’s starting offensive lineman was nominated for an award recognizing his work off of the football field.
Gabe Ikard is a nominee for the 2013 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.
The award recognizes college football players who have made a commitment to enriching the lives of others while contributing to their communities.
Organizers say Ikard was chosen as a nominee because he traveled to Haiti to help families rebuild after a record quake, participated in the President’s Leadership Class and served on the OU Fellowship of Student Athletes leadership team.
The award recipients will be announced in September.
