Hobart soldier found guilty of murder in Afghan civilian deaths
FORT BRAGG, N.C. – Another Okla. soldier has been found guilty of war crimes.
A military judge found Oklahoma Army Lt. Clint Lorance guilty in the shooting deaths of two Afghan civilians during a military mission in 2012.
Officials said he gave the order to shoot afghan men who were approaching the patrol on motorcycles.
Prosecutors claim he illegally ordered the fatal shootings in Afghanistan’s Kandahar province.
He was also found guilty of attempted murder for a third Afghan who was injured.
The Hobart native has been sentenced to 20 years in a military prison plus forfeiture of all pay and dismissal from the U.S. Army.
