Restaurant manager arrested for possessing child porn

MIDWEST CITY, Okla. — The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has made a disturbing arrest at a well-known restaurant in Midwest City. The former manager of the Chuck House Restaurant, who was in charge of making families feel welcome, is accused of committing a crime inside the restaurant.

Lee Martin Thurber was taken into custody last Friday for possessing and distributing child pornography to an undercover agent. Officials say the images he is accused of sharing were found on a computer at his place of work.

OSBI officials say Thurber shared the images with an Edmond officer who is a member of the Oklahoma Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Four days later he was arrested at a Midwest City restaurant after investigators tracked the images to his computer.

OSBI Assistant Special Agent in charge Steve Tanner said, “Lee Martin Thurber distributed child pornography images to the Edmond police officer on one occasion, but it was several images.”

The images which led Edmond police to the Midwest City restaurant where they found Thurber and a computer containing the images he had allegedly shared with the undercover officer.

Investigators believe Thurber obtained the images from an outside source; however, they do not think he is directly linked to any sort of child pornography ring.

Tanner said, “There’s no indication at this point there are any local children that are in any of these photos.”

Tanner says this is a big issue in Oklahoma.

He said, “It’s really unfortunate that there are more cases in the state of Oklahoma than there are law enforcement officers.”

There are task forces set up around the state to find those distributing the images, but it’s a job that goes well beyond the borders of Oklahoma.
Tanner said, “It’s a big problem on Earth. There are literally hundreds of thousands of images and videos of children being molested. Hundreds of thousands of images.

We went to Thurber’s house in South Oklahoma City. He was not there.

We also stopped by the Midwest City Chuck House location. They tell us he was, but is no longer employed there.

While investigators do not believe any local children were victimized in this case it is still a serious crime.

Tanner said, “It’s like drugs, just simply possessing child pornography is a crime, a felony.”

Investigators say their number one priority in these cases is to identify and find the children in the photos. In this case, they do not believe any local children were pictured.

Thurber was booked into the Oklahoma County jail for possession of child pornography, distribution of child pornography and for violating the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act.
