FORT MEADE, M.D. – Oklahoma Army Private Bradley Manning has been sentenced to 35 years Wednesday.

Military officials said he will have to serve a third of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.

The 25-year-old Crescent native was facing up to 90 years in prison for giving more than 700,000 classified documents to WikiLeaks.

Manning was found guilty on 20 of the 22 counts against him in connection with the largest information leak in U.S. history.

The judge called Manning’s conduct “heedless” and “reckless.”

In an unsowrn statement last week, Manning told the court that he was sorry.

Prosecutors recommended at least a 60-year prison sentence while the defense asked for 25 years or less.
