Man reunites Purple Heart found at Goodwill with recipient’s family

WESTOVER, Penn. — A special delivery reunited a Purple Heart medal and the surviving family of its recipient Saturday in Westover, Pennsylvania.

The medal was discovered in a Goodwill store in New York.

The remarkable find comes nearly seven decades after the recipient of that Purple Heart was killed in the line of duty.

It’s not clear how the medal got in a box at the Goodwill store, but it was found by Richard Zuehlke.

With the help of Facebook postings and Goodwill, Zuehlke and the Patriot Guard Riders were able to locate James Roland’s surviving family in Westover.
