OKLAHOMA CITY — Joining Linda Cavanaugh in the KFOR studios is attorney Emile Kilpatrick to talk about the legal issues surrounding the shooting last night of robbery suspects by a liquor store owner.
Attorney Kilpatrick says that the liquor store owner can stand his ground, but when he chased the suspects and started shooting in the streets it probably goes beyond the “Stand Your Ground” laws.
She says that police can use deadly force to protect themselves and others.
Based on what is now being referred to as the “Earsland” law, the liquor store owner could face charges.
When the suspected robbers fled the liquor store the liquor store owner’s gun fire should have stopped.
Oklahoma City Police continue to investigate this incident.
