Former first lady pays a visit to Briarwood Elementary
MOORE, Okla. — Students at Briarwood Elementary received a special “visit” of sorts today. Barbara Bush fired up her laptop and visited Briarwood students via “Skype.”
The former first lady helped lift spirits, and spoke about learning and rebuilding lives.
You’ll remember, Briarwood Elementary was one of the schools destroyed by the May 20th tornado.
The students are currently attending class at the Emmaus Baptist Church.
The virtual visit from the former first lady was also part of the “Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy’s” recognition of “International Literacy Day.”
Local teens were on hand to tell Mrs. Bush about a new “Barbara Bush Foundation Teen Trendsetters Program” currently being established at Southmoore High School.
