OU safety named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week
NORMAN, Okla.- While the Sooners’ offense struggled through most of Saturday’s game against West Virginia, the defense stood firm and is now being recognized for its efforts.
Safety Gabe Lynn has been named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week.
Lynn recorded three tackles, a fumble recovery and an interception in the 16-7 win over the Mountaineers.
The Sooners’ defense has allowed just seven points through two games, tying for fourth in the nation.
Lynn is the first Oklahoma defensive player to earn a weekly conference honor since Ronnell Lewis in 2011.
