OKLAHOMA CITY- Drivers across the state are being asked to take extra precautions Thursday as it has been declared an Ozone Alert Day.

The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality projected that Thursday could have the formation of ground-level air pollution.

The ozone alert day is a health risk to the general populace but especially dangerous to children, the elderly and anyone with respiratory illnesses.

Officials ask that you wait until nightfall to refuel your vehicle, delay lawn work with any gasoline-powered devices, use public transit and carpool with friends and co-workers.
