Burns Hargis releases new statement on SI allegations of OSU
STILLWATER, Okla. – As the fourth part of a five-part series was released from Sports Illustrated detailing alleged misconduct by the OSU football team, Oklahoma State President Burns Hargis is speaking out about the accusations.
“As we have said, we will investigate the accuracy of the allegations and take all appropriate action,” OSU President Burns Hargis said. “We do not condone or tolerate improper conduct in our athletic programs.”
In Friday’s statement, Hargis says they will get to the bottom of the accusations and that he believes the current staff is committed to making sure the program is at its best.
He said, “At OSU, sure we want to win. But we want to win the right way.”
University officials said they have contacted the NCAA and advised it of the accusations.
OSU Vice President of Athletics Mike Holder said, “We take the allegations seriously, whether they have merit or not, we don’t know, but we will find out.”
Oklahoma State University has launched response.okstate.edu to address the Sport Illustrated series of reports alleging misconduct at OSU.
OSU officials said the page is a way to keep the media, alumni, fans and the general public updated on Oklahoma State’s official responses and the university’s plans for moving forward to investigate and address the alleged misconduct.
