OKLAHOMA CITY – Following a decision by the Oklahoma Supreme Court, Baby Veronica will stay with her biological father while he continues to appeal the decision to send her back to South Carolina.
The Supreme Count apparently left a “stay” order in place that will keep the little girl with her biological father for now.
Last month, a district judge in Nowata County agreed with a decision from a South Carolina court that gave custody of Veronica to the Capobiancos.
Dusten Brown is appealing that decision and the Oklahoma Supreme Court temporarily blocked the order to give him time for that appeal.
Brown is also facing possible extradition to South Carolina to face a felony complaint of custodial interference, a felony that carries up to five years in prison.
His attorneys claim he did not break the law because he was under no obligation to obey the South Carolina court order while appealing the case in Oklahoma.
Turning 4-years-old on Sunday, Veronica has spent half of her life with each family.
