A little Reminder, OKCFD hosts 5K run to fund free smoke detectors Saturday
OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City Fire Department is hoping to help save lives before they are in danger.
The department is hosting the Project Life 5K on Saturday, October 5 at 9 a.m. at Lake Hefner East Wharf.
Registration for the 5K or the 1 mile fun run or walk is $25 per person.
All the money raised will go toward the fire department’s budget for smoke alarms.
The Oklahoma City Fire Department provides smoke alarms free of charge to the public and will even install them inside home.
Organizers say having a working smoke alarm gives residents a 50 percent better chance of survival should their home ever catch on fire.
In order to provide the smoke alarms, firefighters must raise money every year through a fundraiser.
