Oklahomans head to Colorado to help flood victims
BOULDER, Colo. – A team of Oklahomans is on the way to Colorado to lend a hand to the victims of the recent severe floods.
The Red Cross of Central and Western Oklahoma sent several volunteers to assist with the flooding relief efforts.
Red Cross volunteers Olivia Dennard and Michael Zanfardino left from the Red Cross offices in Oklahoma City Sunday morning in an emergency response vehicle, one of only three in existence from our area.
They are going to the heavily flooded areas of Colorado to feed workers and those left homeless in the high water.
“A lot of people have been evacuated,” Dennard said. “They’re not able to go back to their neighborhoods. The devastation, the floods is overwhelming for the people there.”
Olivia and Michael are seasoned volunteers who have responded to many other disasters both inside and outside of Oklahoma.
