MIDWEST CITY, Okla. -- Midwest City Police have arrested six people in connection with a weekend homicide.
Early Saturday morning, 39-year-old Shirley Butler was shot and killed at her home near NE 10th and Post Road.
Police say it was around 1:30 Saturday morning, Butler heard a knock on the door. She answered and found a teenage girl. Then two men appeared and began shooting.
Police say another man broke out a window and two other people were waiting in cars around the corner.
Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes said, "I don't know how long their plan was in place. They had a diversionary, they used a female to get the victim to come to the door. They had a plan."
Kelvin Murray also lives at the home where the shooting happened. He is still in shock over what happened.
Murray said, "Whatever they came for, if they would have asked me I would have let them have it, gladly let them have it to have Shirley back."
Police found bullet casings, a clip from one of the weapons and a shoe from one of the suspects all in the front yard.
Within 36 hours police arrested six people:
- 17-year-old Ashley Craig
- 19-year-old Jarvis Jones
- 19-year-old DeMarkus Long
- 19-year-old Justin Woody
- 19-year-old Aaron Gaines
- 19-year-old Ravan Craig
As for Butler's boyfriend, Kelvin Murray, he just wishes he could have Shirley back.
Murray said, "That was my right hand. I miss her."
Police believe drugs and money were the motive.
In fact, police say Kelvin Murray will likely face drug charges because police found three pounds of marijuana inside the home he shared with Shirley Butler.
