State leaders kick off drive to get shelters in schools
State leaders are kicking off a petition drive to get storm shelters in all Oklahoma schools.
Officials said they goal is to get enough signatures to have a $500 million bond question put on the state ballot.
The petition is called “Take Shelter Oklahoma.“
To make schools safer for kids, organizers must collect 155,000 signatures to get the issue on the ballot.
Then it will be up to the people to vote on putting storm shelters in schools.
