Two-year-old toddler youngest to ever have weight loss surgery
SAUDI ARABIA — A two and a half year old morbidly obese Saudi toddler has become the youngest person to ever undergo weight-loss surgery.
Topping the scales at 73 pounds doctors say the extreme procedure was a last resort after all other weight-loss methods failed.
Doctors say the child desperately needed the surgery because of his severe health problems; like sleep apnea and his legs bowing from the excess weight.
The Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy actually took place back in 2010 and it appears to have helped. Within two months of the procedure doctors reported a 15 percent decrease in the boy’s weight. Two years later, he weighed in at 50 pounds.
