OKC Thunder to be without Westbrook for parts of training camp
OKLAHOMA CITY – When the Thunder open training camp Saturday they will still be without Russell Westbrook, at least in some aspects.
Westbrook is cleared to take part in some portions of training camp but not all.
Westbrook tore his meniscus in game 2 of the first round of the playoffs involving a play with Patrick Beverly of the Houston Rockets.
Beverly went for a steal as Westbrook signaled to call timeout. Some considered the play dirty.
Westbrook underwent surgery for the matter and still isn’t 100 percent cleared to return. The team isn’t placing a timetable on when Russell could return to the floor. They don’t want to jeopardize his season or career with a lingering injury that isn’t fully healed.
Thunder General Manager Sam Presti addressed Westbrook’s status Wednesday during the teams first press conference of the 2013-2014 season.
