NEW: Homes caked in mud after gas, water line blast
OKLAHOMA CITY – Homes are caked in mud in northwest Oklahoma City and homeowners are now figuring out how they are going to clean up.
“Oh my lands,” said Linda Quinlivin. “It’s not good.”
Her home is not normally the muddy shade of red she found it in Tuesday afternoon.
“I’m not very happy because we’re trying to sell it,” Quinlivin says.
However, with gallon after gallon of water and natural gas spraying out of her neighbor’s yard, her home was soon coated.
“It was shooting out of the ground, and it was coming toward our home,” said Quinlivin.
Oklahoma Natural Gas say city water workers ruptured, not only their water line but, the gas line near it.
The fire department evacuated the neighborhood for hours while ONG capped off the leak. It was a potentially dangerous situation we’ve seen before when a woman narrowly escaped her southwest Oklahoma City home in January.
“That was scary,” said Quinlivin. “That came to my mind, and I think, ‘Oh, God I hope that doesn’t happen to our neighborhood.’”
Thankfully, no one was hurt this time, but Quinlivin and her neighbors’ homes are certainly stained by the muddy mess.
